This License Agreement governs your access to and use of the MATDAT.COM material properties and knowledge database and its content ("MATDAT.COM system"). If you do not accept the terms of this License Agreement, you will not be permitted to access or use the MATDAT.COM system and its content.

 

Proprietary rights
You acknowledge that the MATDAT.COM system is a proprietary product of Basan Robert, D. Sc. ("Licensor") and is protected by Copyright law and that Licensor reserves all rights of ownership and copyright and all other intellectual property rights in any version of the MATDAT.COM system in any format or any medium.
You agree that, during the term of this License Agreement and thereafter, the MATDAT.COM system and all other material, information and documentation made available to you under this Agreement which is not already in the public domain or already lawfully in your possession, are and shall remain the exclusive property of Licensor and are proprietary.

 

Licensing
Subject to the terms and conditions of this License Agreement, Licensor hereby grants you a limited non-exclusive, non-transferable revocable license to access and use the MATDAT.COM system through corresponding user account.
You shall not and shall not have the right to sell, assign, transfer, rent, lease, sublicense, lend, give or make available to others your MATDAT.COM system user account including username and password or make them available in any manner for use by any other person, or firm, or customer without the express written permission of the Licensor.
In the event that you make any use of the MATDAT.COM system outside the rights granted in this Agreement, Licensor reserves the right to block your user account and deny you the access to the MATDAT.COM system until issue is resolved.

 

Disclaimer of warranty
The MATDAT.COM system and its content, including but not limited to all data, tools and calculations therein are provided "as is" and without express or implied warranty of any kind by either Licensor or anyone else who has been involved in the creation, production or delivery of the MATDAT.COM system and its content, including but not limited to any express or implied warranty of merchantability, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, noninfringement or fitness for a particular purpose. No covenants, warranties or indemnities of any kind are granted by Licensor to you. You shall not rely on the MATDAT.COM system or its content in making structural or engineering calculations and decisions and shall verify any and all data utilized and calculations made through relevant manufacturer and/or through independent testing.

 

Limitation of liability
In no event will Licensor be liable for any damages, including loss of data, lost opportunity or profits, cost of cover or any special, incidental, consequential, direct or indirect damages arising from or relating to the use of the MATDAT.COM system or its content, however caused and on any theory of liability. This limitation will apply even if Licensor has been advised or given notice of the possibility of such damage. You assume all risk and liability in connection with the use of the System and all data, tools and calculations therein
.

 

Governing law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Croatia and shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Croatia.

Proficiency testing for aluminium alloy AlSi9Cu3

8. April 2014.
Talum Inštitut d.o.o., material research and environmental protection, invites laboratories to take part in proficiency testing for AlSi9Cu3 alloy (226a quality) by method of optical emission spectrometry in accordance with EN 14726, which will be carried out in May 2014. 

The material used is an AlSi9Cu3 alloy sample with the following composition: Si ? 9%; Fe ? 0,5%; Cu ? 2,5%; Mn ? 0,4%; Mg ? 0,3%; Cr ? 0,02%; Ni ? 0,01; Zn ? 0,1%; Ti ? 0,05%; Pb ? 0,01%; Ca < 0,01%; P < 0,01%; Sn < 0,01%; Sr < 0,01%; V < 0,01%
 
Participants will receive the samples by post in April 2014. Participation fee is 250 EUR and includes report, certificate of participation, sample and sample delivery. After you receive the report, you can use the sample as CRM. If you are interested in participation, please contact tatjana.vicko@talum.si

Dear colleague,

Some twenty plus years ago I was writing my master’s thesis entitled “Contribution to practical determining of corrosion fatigue of steel with particular reference to offshore technology units”. My paper among other things contains fatigue and corrosion fatigue test results for microalloyed steel TStE355 FG36T. 
I would just like to reflect on how much effort and material resources I had to engage in order to provide  high-quality specimens appropriate for low-cycle fatigue tests and to obtain relevant results at the prestigious institute. I had to involve a number of people in two major Croatian shipyards for procuring, cutting and machining the specimens in the yards’ tools processing workshops and to do much travelling in order to attend the tests. On top of that, it was quite an undertaking to find the literature in the field at the time. I am not sure that much has changed since then so I welcome your initiative to institute a web page containing a collection of scientifically and professionally relevant test results regarding different materials. I am sure it will spare many the effort of undergoing the lengthy, demanding and expensive procedures of determining advanced characteristics of industrial materials.
