In June 2014,
Thomson Reuters, a major global information aggregator and provider of business intelligence, contacted MATDAT and invited us to include our materials properties data in the
Data Citation Index (DCI), its large index of 300+ databases. Being included in the DCI means that MATDAT data will become
highly visible and widely available to the global community of researchers, scientists and engineers.
Data Citation Index database is part of Thomson Reuters’ Web of Science research platform. It’s a single point of access to quality research data from repositories across disciplines and around the world.
In September 2014 we began with adaptations of the MATDAT system to the requirements of the Web of Science platform. In the early 2015, Thomson Reuters evaluated MATDAT and approved us for inclusion in the DCI. In May 2015 we signed a contract with Thomson Reuters, officially making our datasets a part of the DCI, searchable and findable by users worldwide.
Being included in the DCI is a huge affirmation of our hard work and dedication to the MATDAT project.
Currently, DCI indexes about 300 databases and repositories from well-known universities and institutes. To be included in the index, we had to meet a number of
very strict criteria. To our knowledge, at the moment MATDAT is
the only database dealing with engineering-class materials that is included in DCI.
